India will have to build robust systems to safeguard communications networks as cyber security emerges as a key area of concern, VK Saraswat, scientific advisor to the defence minister, said on Friday. ?New disputes are going to evolve much more vigorously because the technology which all of us are using for today’s operations is network centric,? Saraswat, also the chief of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), said.
?We have to become more and more vigilant on the cyber aspect. We have to build systems which are robust, platforms which are trusted platforms.?
The IAF, for instance, is putting in place the ground systems for a network centric communication system that would eventually involve a space segment comprising satellites. It plans to have about 6 to 8 satellites over the next decade.
