Buoyed with its success of effectively increasing income tax collections by 11% in 2009-10 fiscal, the income tax department of Uttar Pradesh east circle has fixed a target of registering another 16% growth in its tax collections in the 2010-11 fiscal.
MK Mirani, chief commissioner of income tax department, Lucknow, said the department had collected Rs 2,888 crore in 2009-10 fiscal as against Rs 2,614 crore in 2008-09. The UP East circle comprises of Lucknow, Allahabad and Bareilly regions.
Mirani said while the pan-India growth was around 18%, UP east circle had registered 11%. ?And we have set a target of achieving a growth of about 16% in the coming year and plan to collect close to Rs 3,379 crore in the next fiscal,? he said. He asked taxpayers to use the online viewing of tax credit statement by the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) so that lesser number of incorrect accounting incidents take place.
