Turmeric futures prices fell by 1.77 per cent to Rs 7,766 per quintal in futures trading on Monday after speculators booked profits amid a weak trend at the spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for July delivery fell by Rs 140, or 1.77 per cent, to Rs 7,766 per quintal, with an open interest of 8,675 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in August declined by Rs 130, or 1.16 per cent, to Rs 7,702 per quintal, with a trade turnover of 4,810 lots.

Analysts said emergence of profit-booking by speculators along with subdued demand in the spot market mainly led to the fall in turmeric futures prices.
