The job: It?s not a 9 to 5 routine job, it?s a 24/7 full-on learning process and I would have it no other way. Contrary to other disciplines where you feel as if you have been boxed in, I?ve got the wings to fly and the bandwidth to consistently innovate and keep my life interesting, relevant and stimulated. At the same time, it?s a very people intensive job dealing with situations which requires one to be tough and yet sensitive, detached and yet emotional. Dealing with a team that comprises people of different age groups, experience and maturity levels is always challenging and keeps me on my toes. A generation that wants results fast, with a ?work smarter, not harder? and ?what?s my next move going to be? attitude makes you really walk the tightrope.
The weekdays: Mornings are chaotic getting the kids ready for school and making sure they get onto the bus on time. Once the kids are off I make it a point to get an hour?s workout and that?s my sacred time. I make sure all my emailing is done in the car before I reach so that I?m always ahead of my day. I?m not someone that flourishes in chaos hence I need to ensure that my life is organised unless I need to be in two places at the same time. But if there?s one thing I?ve learnt ?balancing this act? for so many years is that somehow somewhere it always sorts itself out.
The weekend: Weekends are always catching up days with studies, classes and working with the kids through the morning. It?s also a day I use to pamper myself, catch up with friends, etc. My husband and I love to hangout at our friends? places just as much as we do going out. Sundays are always with the kids, maybe a brunch or a morning swim at the JW or even a day spend at the club with friends. Sunday evenings I ensure we are home, preparing for school next day and it?s an early night out.
The toys: I am not a gadget person but I simply cannot do without my iPhone and my tablet. Let?s just say wasn?t sure what I was doing with my life before these two made their presence indispensable.
The logos: As long as it looks good I can?t be bothered about the label. At the same time, I love the occasional buy. Currently I?m quite into Michael Kors and Tory Burch. I love buying stuff online and when I?m travelling shopping is always top on my agenda. And while luxury brands are great I?m absolutely into high street shopping. Bebe, Zara, H&M, Top Shop are great value for money. Victoria?s Secret never ever let?s me down so it?s my eternal favourite.
