After having made a mark in the affordable housing segment, Tata Housing Development Company is all set to go international by entering two Saarc nations by the end of this fiscal. Scouting for partners and joint ventures, the company will expand its business by exploring ?international geographies? this year.
Managing director and CEO Bronit Banerjee said, ?We are looking for partners to enter into two countries in the Saarc region.?
Though Banerjee did not name the countries, he said the plan to foray into the international market is in advance stages. Meanwhile, the company also has proposals for expanding into two new lines of business which is still at a preliminary stage. Not divulging further details on these new initiatives, Banerjee, however, added that ?the initiatives will continue to be related to realty and still need a formal board approval.? Apart from this, the company also aims to make its presence felt in the affordable housing segment in the markets of Delhi-NCR, where till now it had just one project in the high-end luxury segment.
?We were aiming to enter the Delhi-NCR market in the affordable housing segment last year itself but we could not… but by this Diwali we will be able to have a project under affordable housing in Delhi-NCR,? Banerjee said.
When asked about the other markets the company is exploring, he added, ?we are planning to make a presence in 8-10 markets this year, which include, Chandigarh, Delhi-NCR, hills of Himachal Pradesh or Uttarakhand, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore. We will be entering for the first time in Hyderabad. In west, we are in Pune, Mumbai, Goa and are planning to launch in Ahmadabad also. In all, we are targeting 8-10 launches this year.? On the investment front, the Mumbai-based realty firm, a subsidiary of Tata Sons, is looking at investing R2,000 crore in the next three years to build a luxury housing project in Gurgaon called Primanti.
The company will invest R1,000 crore this fiscal to acquire new projects and is targeting addition of 20-25 million square feet over-and-above the 40 million square feet in its possession at the end of the last fiscal.
?We are launching a luxury housing project, ‘Primanti’, in Gurgaon, comprising 1,100 units,? he added.
