Standard Chartered Bank plans to openan office of its knowledge process outsourcing (KPO) network ? Scope International ? in Bangalore by October, said Sreeram Iyer, chief operating officer (India and South Asia) of the bank.

At present, Scope International has offices in Malaysia, China and Chennai with a workforce of about 7,200, 200 and 3,000, respectively.

?The office in Bangalore will look at global collections work for the consumer banking business, and into customer service analytics,” said Iyer.

Standard Chartered Bank has more than doubled its revenue and profits over the last five years and has performed consistently well, delivering record results throughout the recent financial crisis.

The bank also has plans to hire around 2,000 employees in India during the current financial year. Currently, the bank currently has around 8,000 employees in the country.

Last month, StanChart said it plans to double its team of relationship managers to 1,300 in the priority banking space in India over the next 12-18 months.Currently the bank has 660 managers in its priority banking space in India.

On Monday, Liverpool FC and Standard Chartered Bank announced they had agreed a four-year deal for the bank to become the club?s main sponsor. ? This sponsorship will drive a step change in brand recognition in our key markets and will provide an additional catalyst for our business growth,” said Peter Sands, group chief executive of the bank.
