After having a heavy dose of smartphones, QWERTY wonders and i-phones mania, there are certain handsets flooding the market that are all set to bring about a fresh air and a retro delight. One of these kind of phones being the new Nokia X3-02, which doesn?t rely on its touchscreen only but on good looks and charm too. The phone has loads of sharp features that makes it the head turner and probably a series, which has dared to keep up its head high amidst the invincibles, QWERTY or superiors Touch and Type phones.
Available in four different colors, the Nokia X3-02 has a redesigned keypad, which clearly proves that Nokia refuses to give up on the good old numeric keypad and it will be an essential companion on the X3-02. Sleek and stylish, the handset is a delight to carry and proffers a lot of comfort during arduous metro or bus journeys. But looks is not enough, the users crave for features and technology. Lets take a look at its attributes in an elaborate way. Firstly, that I thoroughly check while assessing a touch phone is the touch response, which was quiet a nice surprise as X3-02 has excellent touch screen response. Moreover, the display is also sharp and each and every item is viewable as well. The one thing that was a major turn-off here was the scrolling part; the scroll bar in each menu option is very narrow and one needs to scroll cautiously so as to avert selection of any other option in between, Th scroll area could have been a bit broader.
Coming over to other features, the Nokia X3-02 is integrated with 5 MP camera, which captures fabulous pictures with utmost clarity. We tried clicking some photographs in an area where there was lot of lightings, there also the pictures were great sans any bright light effects. Further, the audio and video recorded were also clear and crisp respectively, coupled with clear sound output. Going further, the handset also has other features like a button on the side for locking/unlocking keypad, volume controls that are easy to operate. Other features on the exterior includes a 3.5 mm jack for almost any headphone, a microSD card slot upto 32 GB and well crafted & placed music keys.
Talking about the applications, the handset supports facebook, twitter for social networking, Ovi store is also present for easy downloading of music and other stuff. The connectivity options like WLAN and bluetooth work fine and respond excellently. Multimedia features are also fine with FM radio with RDS, which catches all stations and flaunts a nice reception in open, close and even if the handset is kept in one’s pocket. The music player looks good and displays options that are easy to understand and operate. The handset supports MP3 formats predominantly alongwith WAV as well. The
headphones are a delight to use as one can listen to almost all the beats and thumps clearly.
However, it is impossible to design perfection, so the handset has fewer flaws, alongwith a narrower scrolling area on the touch screen, other flaws are absence of any document reader, availability of just Portrait Mode for operation, a smaller screen for supporting touch techniques.
Overall, the handset is like half glass full with touch features and the other half with dedicated keys coupled with few flaws, that are not so much noteworthy.
