Recession is echoing all over, but should that reflect in the way you dress this season is the question here.
I believe in order to uplift the mood, one needs to feel good, reflect positive energy and clothes for a matter of fact can do what sometimes even money can?t.
You don?t have to splurge on an expensive attire as being in fashion does not mean you have to possess deep pockets, it?s a matter of being prudent. One can re-invent an old suit, for example, by just teaming it up with a fashionable shirt! By just adding a new tie one can make a new statement. Hard times call for innovation, be it in business or personal expenses. And what does innovation require? Grey matter of course! So are we going to let the financial gloom loom over our heads or are we going to get some cheer back into our lives? How would you ask? Allow me to show you:
I will take you through some fashion trends for fall winter-2008, which can be incorporated into your existing wardrobes without making the hole in your pocket any larger!
Though our country geographically does not face winter all over, which says that fashion is only according to your needs, it may not be cold enough in places like Mumbai but no one shirks from changing their wardrobe every season. It?s more of an attribute of self-indulgence, the feel good factor and let?s put it in other words ? who doesn?t get bored with oneself. Hence fashion changes every season unconditional of the climatic situation. What I suggest is that one must go in for deeper shades, heavy look in fabrics, heavy detailing to feel the winter. Muted earth shades set the tone in the colour palette: an array of grays, warm browns, purples and blues mingle with dashes of turquoise, blue, orange and dark green. Therefore there is something for every guy! And since most men already have these basic warm colours in their wardrobes all they have to do is add some colour to spice them up, which could be in the form of a bright jumper or that bright tie or just a shirt.
Please combine checks with stripes, stripes with herringbones or prints and add detailing of leather, velvet and suede. Use heavy-knit vintage looking t-shirts, leather jackets and club them with straight fit trousers having flat fronts, modern (more fitted) shirts, slim fitting jackets along with a pair of floral or funky socks with a pair of new vintage inspired shoes or boots. Go in for leather and suede waistcoats ? they fall very trendy. Pants can be clubbed with denim casual kurtas.
Evenings can be a little more edgy by carrying on the ?dandy? look. Do not hesitate to wear that shiny satin finish jacket with a pair of well-fitted trousers.
Do not forget to add in colour to your wardrobe this winter through bright scarves, socks, ties and other accessories, apart from picking up a jacket with a contrast coloured facing in the colour or sleeve insides. It could also be your trousers with contrast piping. So go in for that extra edge as fashion for men is at par with fashion for women. We see the launch of magazines like M and GQ that have brought about a revolution in India in men?swear. These magazines also provide sensible content that could be a guide in putting together clothes for the season. Although I am the last person to dictate trends I feel that sometimes it is good to know what?s happening around you?!
Remember! The economic slowdown doesn?t mean that there has to be a wardrobe meltdown. Savour this season?s fashion in your own unique way.
