Even as power minister Sushilkumar Shinde is the frontrunner for the chief ministership of Maharashtra replacing the present incumbent Vilasrao Deshmukh, former is leaving for Bhutan on Thursday morning to discuss opportunities in hydro power sector.
Shinde is heading a 15-member delegation to deliberate on the implementation of at least eight hydro power projects with more than 8,000 mw capacity.
At the time of going to the press, Shinde confirmed his departure to Bhutan and told FE on Wednesday ?The visit is to tap opportunities in hydro power sector in Bhutan. I will be return to New Delhi on December 6.?
On his name being considered for the Maharashtra?s chief minister, Shinde declined to comment but said ?I will abide by my party high command?s decision.?
