After gaining more than 610 points in intra-day trades, the BSE Sensex pared most of its early gains to end the day at 15,750.40 points, adding 123.78 points or 0.79% while the Nifty closed at 4,754.20 points, gaining 14.65 points or 0.31%. Stocks of IT, banks and tech space witnessed some buying at lower levels on Wednesday but trading volumes at both the stock exchanges continued to remain bleak.
Meanwhile, the Association of NSE Members in India (ANMI) on Wednesday urged all jobbers and arbitrageurs not to abstain from trading. Recognising the negative impact of withdrawal of STT benefit in the capital market, ANMI has already submitted a detailed memorandum to the ministry of finance and the regulator and is awaiting the government?s response towards an amicable solution, Bijay Murmuria, president, ANMI, said.
