The Centre has sanctioned a sum of Rs 50 crore for the promotion of tourism in Haryana.This was disclosed by the minister of state for tourism, Kiran Choudhry, while talking to media persons at Red Bishop Tourist Complex at Panchkula.
The minister said that Haryana was one of the best states in the country to start highway tourism, and former chief minister Bansi Lal was instrumental behind promoting highway tourism in the state. She added that the main aim of organising the heritage festival was to remind the present generation of the rich cultural heritage of the state, as well as of Pinjore so that it could be included in the calendar of events.
Choudhry said that during the Geeta Jayanti celebrations at Kurukshetra, the foundation stone of a 57-tonne chariot of Lord Krishna would be laid.
The Indian Cricket League has played a pivotal role in introducing Panchkula to the international community. While replying to a question about starting the Palace on Wheels train, Choudhry said that the Union ministry of tourism and railway was considering this.
