The Haryana government has approved the revised Mansurpur Lift Irrigation Scheme to be completed at a cost of Rs 860.64 lakh. The project will provide irrigation facilities to 12,900 acres of agricultural land of 26 villages of district Ambala and Kurukshetra.

While giving this information here on Thursday, Haryana PWD (B&R) and irrigation minister Ajay Singh Yadav said, “The lift irrigation channel having three lifts and 13.42 km length would discharge 28.95 cusecs of water.”

A sum of Rs 223.21 lakh had already been spent out of which Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam recovered Rs 49.25 lakh on account of transfer of pumps and adjustments. The compensation for land acquisition amounted to Rs 29.56 lakh and the balance amount stands as the expenditure till date.

The minister said that the irrigation department was asked to submit the revised project for sanction of the government after a discussion with chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on June 5, 2006. As a consequence of this, modification in the project was prepared in such a way so that it would be fed from both sides, he added. From RD 0 to 13,000, it was to be fed as flow channel from Narwana Branch The reverse flow was therefore not necessary. It was also provided with bed slope of 0.15/1000, Yadav added.
