Manoranjan Kalia, local government and industries minister Punjab said on Friday that the new industrial policy would be finalized and implemented by December 2007. He said, suggestions has already been taken from representatives of different industrial bodies and United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) will also be consulted for the purpose. He revealed that UNIDO has sancationed $ 40,000 US for this purpose and has appointed a National Consultants for conducting a study and to prepare Draft of industrial policy of the state of Punjab.
Kalia said the state government was also taking effective steps to expedite the implementation of mega projects approved under Industrial Policy. As many as 65 industrial manufacturing projects have been sanctioned and reviewed during last five years. Directions have been given concerned departments to expedite the issue of orders /notifications in respect of incentives pertaining to these projects granted by the Empowered Committee. A system of regular monitoring for implementation of these projects have been envolved.Two review meetings have already been held
