Global FMCG major Procter & Gamble is ramping up its tooth brush business and has placed an order with the country?s leading dental care company JHS Svendgaard for manufacturing around 250 million tooth brushes in the next three to five years at an estimated investment of Rs 100 crore.

P&G?s tooth brush brand Oral B is the second-largest selling brand in India after Colgate, according to a recent AC Nielsen survey.

When contacted, JHS Svendgaard managingdirector Nikhil Nanda refused to comment on the development. However, sources said that JHS has recently inked a long-term pact with P&G to manufacture a product range exclusively for it.

This will catapult it into the next phase of its growth plan with definite order book and increased manufacturing capacity, a person privy to the deal said.

JHS is also close to announcing its new state-of-the-art technology plant located in Himachal Pradesh. The company has India?s largest manufacturing facility of oral care products in tax free zone of Himachal Pradesh.

JHS had earlier started manufacturing and supplying whitening products as contract manufacturer including mouth rinse and whitening gel for the ones who introduced these products for the first time in the Indian market.
