After launching a range of electronic products like monitors, LCDs etc, Taiwanese electronics major BenQ has forayed into cameras and has come up with DCE 1420 digital camera. The look and feel of the camera is not much stylish and the manufacturer has made sure to keep a perfect blend of retro as well as in-vogue looks.

The first thing that hit my mind at the first sight of the product was its simple looks and well crafted buttons. This actually brought about a feeling that the camera is not dedicated to few of the ?learned? photographers, but will also hit the likings of amateurs as well. However, looks can be deceptive, so we moved on to see whether the performance is also appealing as the looks or not. But before that lets cruise through the bodily features, which is too cheesy to discuss.

The metallic body of the camera will charm you with its simple looks and well crafted as well as labeled buttons. There is a slider crafted at the top right side of the camera, which is for selecting options for clicking pictures, shooting video and having a glance at all the clicked and shot stuff. This actually offers comfort and ease of shuffling between the camera?s basic options without digging in much details and interfaces. Further, the zoom buttons are also well crafted and is integrated with the shoot button that offers ease of shooting and applying appropriate zoom effect at the same time. Moreover, the image stabilisation and the power buttons are also positioned cleverly.

Overall, the metallic body of camera actually expects to charm you with its simple looks and easy to understand functions. Talking about the intricacies of the camera, the interfaces are just about simple with about 26 shooting modes. Moreover, the Drive Mode is also smooth offering you the time span of 10-20 seconds. While clicking pictures, there were no delays and photographs clicked were also fine, but were little blurred, that is, not so sharp. If we move to other options, video recording will also offer you delight, with surrounding sound recorded so well. Moreover, the video can be recorded sans any sound as well.
