The Delhi High Court today refused to stay an order by civil aviation regulator DGCA to de-register Paramount’s three planes and ground them by 3 PM today.
A division bench comprising acting Chief Justice M B Lokur and Justice Mukta Gupta declined to stay the directions of Director General of Civil Aviation which had de-registered the airlines’ three planes.
The court also declined Paramount’s plea to maintain a status quo on these three planes till Monday.
“You can adjust your passengers in other airlines. So many players like Kingfisher are flying on that route,” the bench said while rejecting Paramount’s plea that the passengers, who have booked their tickets, would suffer.
The Madras High Court had yesterday dismissed Paramount’s petition and directed the company to stop all flying activities of the three planes by 3 PM today.
Following the order, Paramount had approached Delhi High Court where it had challenged the DGCA’s actions.
The DGCA had de-registered three 72-75 seater Embraer planes of Paramount Airways following a dispute over payment as per the lease agreement with the GE Capital Aviation Services Ltd and Celestial Aviation Trading.
