Pointing out that Orissa had been neglected in the Railway Budget, the state?s CM Naveen Patnaik lashed out at the Centre. ?I am disappointed to find that the funds for railway projects have been reduced considerably from the last budget for Orissa,? he said. Patnaik claimed that while Rs 949.34 crore had been allotted in 2008-09, the allocation has been reduced to Rs 715.22 crore in 2009-10. Patnaik said the budget had glossed over many demands from the state, most notable the state government?s proposal for the sanction of a survey for construction of a North-South and East-West Railway Corridor to counter Naxals. Similarly, he added, the demand for setting up a coach factory in Orissa had been granted to Kolkata, ?which already has many facilities?. Making a scathing attack on the Centre, the chief minister said, ?The sarkar is constantly neglecting Orissa in many areas.?
