The overall export of oilmeals during the April ?07 to November ?07 period is reported at 22.88 lakh tonne compared to 25.49 lakh tonne, down by 10% due to decease in soymeal exports.
However, oilmeals export in November 2007 was reported at 5.90 lakh tonne compared to 5.83 lakh tonne in November last year, up by 1.3%.
Export of soybean meal during the first eight months of the current fiscal was down from 16.52 lakh tonne to 14.24 lakh tonne. Rapeseed meal export also decreased from 5.93 lakh tonne to 5.36 lakh tonne. Groundnut meal export was also down from 51,300 tonne to 12,275 tonne and rice bran extraction was down from 1.38 lakh tonne to 1.08 lakh tonne during the eight months of the current year 2007-08. On the other hand, castor meal export jumped to 2.06 lakh tonne from 1.13 lakh tonne, up by 82%, thanks to increased buying from South Korea & Taiwan, according to data compiled by the Solvent Extractors? Association of India (SEA).
During the review period, Vietnam has increased the import of oilmeals from India and reported at 7.37 lakh tonne consist of 5.81 lakh tonne of soybean meal, 46,587 tonne of rapeseed meal and entire quantity of 1.08 lakh tonne of rice bran extraction. South Korea reported import of 3.98 lakh tonne.
