Export of oilmeals from the country has registered a negative growth of 52% during August at 1.23 lakh tonne compared to 2.54 lakh tonne in August 2006.

The overall export of oilmeals for the first four months (April-August) period was reported at 10.80 lakh tonne compared to 13.09 lakh tonne, which is down by 18% due to decrease in export of soyabean meal and groundnut meal, according to the data compiled by the Solvent Extractors? Association of India (SEA). Export of soybean meal was down from 7.97 lakh tonne to 5.39 lakh tonne and groundnut meal export also down from 43,100 tonne to just 4,775 tonne in the first five months of current year.

Castor meal export jumped to 1.35 lakh tonne from 49,350 tonne, thanks to buying from South Korea and rice bran export increased to 79,200 tonne from 61,900 tonne last year.

Vietnam has increased import of oilmeals from India and reported at 3.83 lakh tonne consist of 2.80 lakh tonne of soybean meal, 24,975 tonne of rapeseed meal and entire quantity of 79,200 tonnes of rice bran extraction from India. South Korea reported import of 2.73 lakh tonne (consist of 1.59 lakh tonne of rapeseed meal, 1.02 lakh tonne of castorseed meal and 12,150 tonne of soybean meal).
