Oberoi Hotels and Resorts plans to add 700 more rooms by 2013, both in India and overseas, a senior company official said.
“We plan to add 700 rooms by 2013,” Oberoi Hotels and Resorts’ President, Liam Lambert, said.
Currently, the company has 1,300 rooms in India and 900 overseas.
The hospitality major plans to open a property in the next three to four months in Gurgaon with 220 rooms. In 2012, it proposes to open a property in Hyderabad and five overseas.
“Of the five international properties, we plan to open one each in Dubai, Oman and Morocco and two in Abu Dhabi,” Lambert said, adding “these will all be on management contract basis.”
Presently, the company has 17 properties in India and overseas that includes three luxury cruises. Its international properties are in Bali, Saudi Arabia and Egypt.
On the Oberoi in Mumbai, Lambert said that the refurbished hotel would be re-opened on April 24.
“Now there will be 280 rooms including 50 suites as against the earlier 300 rooms and 20 suites,” he said.
