Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd is looking to expand the pick up vehicle market with the launch of its Bolero MaxiTruck equipped with micro hybrid technology. The pick up truck market is around 56,000 vehicles for the financial year 2009 .
Arun Malhotra, senior vice-president, sales and customer care, automotive sector of the company said, M&M is the leader in the pick up category with a market share of 85%.
?We sell 4,000 units of pick up vehicles every month and with the new product offering, we expect the sales to grow by about 20%-25% every month. This vehicle will also help us expand the market for pick up vehicles in the country?, he said adding the market for the category has grown over the years, from 12,000 units in 2001 to 56,000 units in 2009. He said, Hyderabad is a very important market for the company. Infact, in Andhra Pradesh the company has 82% share when it comes to pick up vehicles and 55% share in the case of overall utility vehicles category.
