In the last year or so, people were either going purely digital or purely analog. I think this year, a balance has been achieved with hybrid systems. Everything is better, faster, smaller, more efficient and, more often than not, cheaper. In the past, India has always been treated like a stepchild when it came to new products. However, companies today are putting out products in India as quick as they are in the rest of the world.

For us disc jockeys, the media we use to bring the music to the masses are game changers. Over the last two years, disc jockeys have either switched fully to software, hoping to do more than before or have held on to the feel of hardware. As of this year, take for example the new flagship DJ line-up of the CDJ 2000 & the DJM 2000, it is not so much about being pro -hardware or pro-software but pro-innovation and pro-growth. And this is in every sense the essence of what I feel many of us look for.

Today no matter what platform you are on, you can now do much more than ever before. The technology available today allows a disc jockey to create seamless mixes like never before and to truly perform rather than just be a monkey on a jukebox.
