Corporate affairs minister Salman Khurshid will meet the industry captains under the aegis of the CII on July 4 to discuss major issues surrounding India Inc such as the role and responsibility of independent directors, corporate governance and role of auditors.

Tata Sons director JJ Irani, TVS Motors chairman & MD and CII president, Venu Srinivasan, Co-CMD of Jubilant Organosys, Hari S Bhartia, and former cabinet secretary, Naresh Chandra will participate in the interaction. Khurshid told FE, ?The Companies Bill will focus on the issue of protection of independent directors at a greater level as there have been several resignations in the past. We will give them a balanced regime?. Meanwhile, the government on Thursday approved the re-introduction of the new Companies Bill, which will replace the old law enacted in 1956. The Cabinet cleared re-introduction of the Bill, which lapsed following the dissolution of earlier Lok Sabha without any changes.
