It is essential for the central government to shift its focus to rescuing economic growth. Both the government and central bank should use more fiscal and monetary measures to prevent slump in the overall economic growth. Further, it is necessary that development outlays in the Union Budget are efficiently used over the next few months. And also, the government should not lose sight of inflationary pressures and must remove administrative bottlenecks responsible for the spiralling food inflation. Hence, the overall imperative is to protect the poor.
