The last phase of survey work started at the Posco site from Tuesday, despite an appeal from Jagatsinghpur CPI MP Bibhu Prasad Tarai to defer it till he sorts out the issue with anti-Posco groups.
Survey officials in eight teams arrived at Gadakujanga gram panchyat and launched the socio-economic enumerations.
The survey covered Noliasahi village on Tuesday. The pro-Posco group United Action Committee (UAC) president, Anadi Rout, said his organisation had decided to cooperate in the survey work. According to him, the Balikuda-Ersama MLA of BJD, Prasanta Muduli, had a fruitful discussion with the Kujanga tehsildar and villagers of the Gadakujanga gram panchayats.
Gadakujanga gram panchyat falls under the 4004 acre land to be acquired for Posco-India?s 12 million tonne steel project.
Tarai, however, has said that the survey work would have an adverse affect on the initiative to start dialogue with the anti-Posco groups such as Posco Pratirodha Sangram Samiti (PPSS). Tarai has been entrusted by the chief minister Naveen Patnaik to negotiate with the anti-Posco group for a discussion at the Revenue Divisional Commission level to resolve the issue. The PPSS has a following in three gram panchayats ? Dhinkia, Gobindpur and Nuagoan? which form the core area of the Posco project site.
