The prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Thermal Power Project (RGTPP), Khedar in district Hisar achieved a major milestone when its first unit of 600 mw was fired on coal and synchronised with the grid in a record period of 36 months.
Stating this, Sanjeev Kaushal, managing director of HPGCL, said that the unit was synchronised with the grid on coal firing at 6: 50 a m on Wednesday and is presently running at a load of around 75 mw with two coal mills in service.
The successful coal firing of unit-1 has paved the way for achievement of full load operation, which is expected by February 21, he added.
