Environment minister Jairam Ramesh on Wednesday criticised the industry for failing to meet its obligations towards environment particularly waste disposal and management.
?Over 24 environmental hotspots have been identified across the country such as Akhileshwar, Trombay and Singrauli which have reached dangerous proportions as far as environment is concerned,? he said while speaking at an environment conclave organised by Ficci. Blaming the industry for ignoring the norms, he said, ?a large part of it is simply because the industry both public and private have not fulfilled their responsibilities which they had taken when they started the project.?
