1The job: After over two decades in banking, I had moved to lead Nipuna, now Mahindra Satyam BPO, where the company gained good traction in the animation space ? edutainment and entertainment. So this transition to my current role as the CEO of Reliance Mediaworks has resulted from an unplanned yet logical series of events.?

Being a people?s person and a strong believer of effective communication, I interact with both creative and business professionals, and every once in a while I like to step out of the circle and take a view from a refreshingly different perspective. My role also involves constant travel between India and the US, and I can now confirm my belief that travel gives you the best time for introspection. I do have a lack of tolerance for incompetence, though I luckily work with a great team at Reliance Media Works..

2The weekdays: Given my constant travelling, I never get to experience a regular weekday. I carry a virtual office in my carry-on, using my handheld to connect to key individuals in the organisation on a regular basis. Both my wife and I travel, though when we?re both at home I make it a point to spend at least two hours in the evening with her. My daughter is now grown up, so we are a family of three adults who find convenient locations around the world to meet up. In today?s corporate world, it?s all about creating a work-life blend rather than work-life balance.

3The weekend: Whenever I am home in Hyderabad over a weekend, I try and get together with friends. I?m a teenager at heart so I do indulge in a?Saturday?night?out with friends once in a while, even though this occasionally results in spending?Sunday?morning?in detox mode. I also try and go on adventures with my father and we recently went to Cambodia together..

4The toys: Watches are every boy?s passion but I would say the most powerful gadget is a telephone. Not a smartphone necessarily, but just a simple machine with which I can talk to people. I have ten people who report directly to me who I believe are leaders in their own right, and by spending quality time with them on the phone I am energised by them and vice-versa. By talking to them, I also manage to cut across the organisation and efficiently communicate with those who report to them and everyone else within the pyramid structure of the organization..

5The LOGOS: I love Brooks Brothers, Hugo Boss and Hermes, though I truly have a soft spot for Thomas Pink?it?s proper.
