Are you looking for a stylish Android phone that will not burn a hole in your pocket? Then look at this impressive and fabulously designed Spice Mi-410. Spice Mobility recently launched this model which is fully loaded with a 4.1-inch QVGA screen, a 1 GHz Qualcomm processor, 3G & HSPA, a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash lights and of course, the Android 2.2.2 operating system. This device looks, feels and performs like an expensive phone, so it should be a satisfying experience for the user. We were quite amazed by its looks and the quality of the device; it surely stands apart from all the other Spice handsets.
Spice Mi-410 phone has a slim profile and the metallic brown finish on the device looks amazing. It has a solid, bulky feel with a squarish form that gives a good grip in palms. The device has metal covering around the battery but other parts are a plain plastic covering that is sturdy. Mi-410 has a 5 megapixel camera at the back with flash next to it. On the outside, it has the volume toggles, miniUSB port, power button and a 3.5 mm audio jack. The overall finishing of the device is great.
The device has a large 4.1-inch touchscreen display, and such high resolution screens aren?t seen in the Indian market. Making multitasking easier, the handset offers five desktops that can be customised as per own convenience. So swipe right or left to navigate through various screens without entering the main menu. It features a 10.25 cm capacitive touch screen with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels.
The handset runs on Qualcomm?s Snapdragon chipset that features a 1 GHz processor and has a Android 2.2 OS (GingerBread) platform. Innovative search framework, faster response and deeper integration makes the functionality of this phone more fluid. Powered by a 1 GHz processor, Mi-410 offers its user a quicker and effectual access across multiple sources, such as contacts, Web and browser bookmarks directly from the home screen. Android 2.2 includes a redesigned search framework that provides a quick, effective, and consistent way for users to search across multiple sources, such as browser bookmarks and history, contacts, and the Web directly from the home screen.
The display resolution and the touch response of this handset are not as brilliant as compared to most big screen smartphones. But yes, there is a big price difference. The pinch to zoom and scrolling work fine. The connectivity option of this device performed more than what we expected; this 3G device has Bluetooth, USB, and Wi-Fi connectivity. This handset can also be connected to any HDMI supporting device by using its dedicated HDMI port as well, but for that you will have to buy an HDMI cable separately.
What about the camera? The Mi-410 features a 5 megapixel camera at the back and a VGA camera in front, which makes this camera suitable for video calling. The camera supports video recording in 720p high definition mode at 30 fps (frames per second). It has also got a LED flash which performed quite good in a low light and is also suitable for night photography.
On multimedia front, the Mi-410 can play almost any media file with the help of applications that can be downloaded from the marketplace. Besides, users can also see high definition videos on its big 4.1-inch screen. The phone has 2 GB of internal memory and the external memory can be stretched upto 32 GB which is pretty much a standard these days.
Global positioning system capabilities is the another feature that compliments the overall functionality of the phone. With AGPS & GPS in the phone, the user can perform functions, such as location tracking or turn-by-turn directions tracking.
The verdict: With a price tag of R14,000, this phone offers a great value for money considering its features and looks.
