Photo journalism is a focused and specialised way of telling a tale through photographs that mirrors the picture of the society. It is an art, driven more by courage and passion than skill and talent. Recognising the need for promoting photo journalism, India Press Photo Awards (IPPA) was started in 2004 at Mumbai followed by IPPA, 2006. Ramnath Goenka Awards for Indian Press Photo Journalism are organised by The Indian Express Group. Commemorating the Centenary Year of the founder, Ramnath Goenka, The Group takes the initiative to give a new scope to the media professionals. Salman Khan, whose upcoming venture Yuvraaj is releasing on November 21, inaugurated the award show.
