The Haryana School Education Department has decided to provide an internship opportunity to post-graduates in feilds of MBA, MSW, mass communication, journalism and B.Tech, who are studying in the universities or institutes affiliated to the universities in the state.

Haryana education minister, Geeta Bhukal said on Tuesday that graduates or post graduates in these disciplines completing their course by the academic session ending in April, 2011 would be considered as interns for the projects such as quality initiative coordinators, community mobilisers and, information communication technology (ICT) coordinators.

The interns would be paid a monthly stipend of Rs 15,000 for a period which may be upto one year in addition to a laptop with internet facility. The applicants for internship are expected to have knowledge of the background of Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan, Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan and Right to Education Act and ICT in schools.

They are also expected to be aware of the various quality initiatives being taken for the development of school education, integration of ICT in school system.

These assignments would also go a long way in the completion of their projects which they are required to submit as a part of their academic programme for the degree. The students will be enriched through experience so gained during internship and in term better their prospects in career advancement.

Bhukkal said that working within the school education system would provide wide exposure to interns on education, administration, management and ICT in schools as the magnitude of work would be massive. The department has 16,000 schools, 1.05 lakh teachers and 26 lakh school children. No other organisation could match the volume and scale of the School Education Department.

While referring to the criterion of eligibility, she said that post graduates like MBA or MSW or mass communication and journalism or media and B.Tech. studying in the State Universities or institutes affiliated to the state universities would be eligible for the internship.

A selection process will be conducted by the Directorate of Secondary Education, to finalise the candidates. After selection, they will be provided an induction training by the department. The aspirants for these assignments will be exposed to various aspects in human resource development like quality initiatives and man power requirements, budgeting and financing, community mobilisation training programmes and management during the induction training.
