The job: The amazing thing about my job is the width of exposure that I get. Xerox has the widest portfolio of equipment, services and solutions that anyone offers in India or, for that matter globally, in the document management and business process domain. When you are managing such a wide portfolio of products and services, you get to deal with different challenges and have to work out different strategies, different tactics and different solutions to the issues. Moreover, Xerox has such an amazing depth of knowledge and skills with people who know this business inside out. So there is never a dull moment and you are learning new things all the time. That?s what I really love about this job.
The weekdays:My day starts early, at around 8:30 in the morning. The first 30 minutes is spent looking at the priorities of the day, because these can change even if you have planned ahead for these. After that, it is usually a series of meetings, reviews and discussions over calls and video-conferencing. I usually use the latter part of the day to look at the outcomes of the day and do the planning for the actions that emerged through the day ? discussing with my team/ colleagues and putting together a plan to deliver these. While I try to wind up my day in time, it usually does not end before 8 pm. It helps that I stay close to my office as that saves a lot of commuting
time and allows me to maintain a work-life balance.
The weekend: The weekend is reserved for family and friends. It is usually spent catching up with friends and spending quality time with my family. An advantage of staying in Delhi is that we have many wonderful places to visit which can be reached in 5-6 hours. I often use the weekends to steal a quick getaway with family and friends and this helps in keeping your relationships going strong.
The toys:I am not too much into gadgets, but my BlackBerry is one thing that has become indispensable. It has become my lifeline and helps me stay connected with business contacts, friends and sometimes even with your hobbies and interests. Think music, sports updates, news.
The logos: I am not too fussy about the brands, and like to stick to Indian brands. Allen Solly is one brand I feel very comfortable about. However, when it comes to electronic gadgets I have clear preferences ? Sony for television, Bose for music systems and Apple for personal portable music.
