Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said on Tuesday that Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) would construct 37,513 houses in the state in phases for the poor.
Of these, 15,311 houses are being constructed during the current financial year at a cost of Rs 460 crore.
Hooda said the main aim of constructing these houses by Huda was to provide a shelter to the needy people of society. He said tenders for the project had already been issued by Huda. He said as many as 7,352 houses for people belonging to economically-weaker sections were under construction in the state at a cost of Rs 244.55 crore at Ambala, Faridabad, Gurgaon and Panchkula. Giving details of these houses, he said 4,080 houses would be constructed in Sectors 56 and 62 at Faridabad, 2,072 houses at Panchkula and 640 at Ambala in Sector 33.
Referring to the details of the 15,311 houses which would be constructed during the current financial year, he said 3,552 houses would be constructed at Rewari, 3,336 houses in Sectors 8 and 9 at Jind, 3,312 at Sirsa, 2,400 at Hisar, 815 at Gurgaon, 720 at Bahadurgarh, 600 at Rohtak, 408 in Sector 8 at Kaithal and 168 at Jagadhri.
The chief minister said 165 acres was being acquired by Huda in various cities of the state in which 14,850 houses would be constructed.
