After going through a fresh application of the CBI in Jnaneswari trial transfer case, the Calcutta High Court on Friday asked the CBI to know why it considered two central jails in Kolkata safer than any other jail in the state. Justice Ashim Kumar Roy asked this from the CBI after Asish Roy, the counsel of an accused said the prisoners had escaped from two Kolkata jails ? Alipore and Presidency jails. The High Court was hearing a CBI petition seeking an order to transfer the case from Jhargram court to any other court in Kolkata and permission to shift the accused from Midnapore jail to any jail in Kolkata, citing security reasons.
