The Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) and the (Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam) plan to spend about Rs 700 crore to strengthen power transmission and distribution system in Faridabad under a short-term plan to be completed by 2009-10.

Stating this on Friday, a spokesman of the DHBVN said, ?Under this short term plan, it is programmed to renovate total old and stressed transmission system which is above 40 years old. Adequate additional capacity will also be created to release pending load.?

?This plan covers construction of a 400 kv substation at Nawada, three substations of 220 kv level at A-2, A-5, and A-4 Faridabad and construction of five substations of 66 kv level at Escort – I, Green Field Sector – 20, Sector – 58 and Sector – 64. Besides this, capacity of four existing 220 kv substations and 11 existing 66 kv substations is planned to be augmented to strengthen the power transmission system,? he said.

?The DHBVN plans to augment and renovate its power distribution system at a cost of about Rs 225 crores. Under the plan, the Nigam proposes to convert 33 feeders of 11 kv level to high voltage distribution system (HVDS) of international standard. While laying HVDS, complete system of the feeders, right from their emanating point to the consumers end, would be renovated and additional transformers would also be set up as per requirement,? he added.
