Haryana government has earmarked a corpus of Rs 24,312 crore during its 11th plan to strengthen the transmission and distribution of electricity in the state.

“A sum of Rs 7,500 crore would be spent to strengthen the transmission network throughout the state during the 11-plan period, under which substations of 400 KVs would be set up,” state Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said told reporters here.

Already, 400 KV sub-stations are under construction at Gurgaon, Sonepat and Panchkula, he said after laying the foundation stone of a 33KV sub-station at Bichpari.

New power projects would soon come up in line with the government’s commitment to boost power sector in the state, he said.

The ambitious new projects includes a 600 MW Thermal Plant at Yamuna Nagar and a 1,200 MW thermal plant at Khear in Hissar and efforts are on to ensure their scheduled commissioning,” the chief minister added.

Besides, a 1500-MW power plant would be set up at Jhajjhar before the commencement of the Commonwealth Games in 2010, in which the state would get 750 MW, he said.
