To further strengthen generation, transmission and distribution system, Haryana power utilities have spent Rs 2,292.52 crore upto January, during the current fiscal. This include planned expenditure of Rs 773.28 crore.
Ashok Lavasa, financial commissioner and principal secretary (power) said on Thursday at a meeting with the officers of Haryana power utilities that the power sector is a priority for the state government and is being supported with sufficient funds. In view of this, consumer-friendly programmes will be prepared and implemented. He directed them to achieve the targets fixed for boosting power infrastructure so as to ensure better supply of power and consumer satisfaction. Lavasa further said the field staff should focus on consumer grievances redressal on priority. Consumer interface is the field, which needs more care at managerial as well as grassroots level.
Out of 1,526 feeders of 11 kv level, the work has been completed on 432 feeders, work has already been allocated for 989 more feeders and segregation work of 137 feeders would be allocated shortly. Lavasa directed that all the segregated feeders should be energised immediately. The supply of electricity on the segregated agricultural feeders be regulated as per norms laid by the Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission and current energy audit be made, comparing it with pre-segregation period. The segregation of remaining feeders is expected to be completed by June, 2008.
It was apprised, while implementation of High Voltage Distribution System (HVDS)/Low Voltage Distribution System (LVDS) has been completed in 397 villages and urban colonies. The work was in progress at 1,096 more locations. The process of implementation of HVDS/LVDS has been started in radius of 10 km of Yamuna Nagar Power Station and near the upcoming Indira Gandhi Super Thermal Power Project, Jhajjar.
Haryana Power Distribution Corporations have achieved over 6% reduction in Aggregated Transmission and Commercial losses upto December, during the current fiscal, as per target envisaged by them.
It was targeted to reduce the losses upto six percent during the current financial year.
Lavasa directed the senior officers to ensure power supply for two hours in the morning and for four hours in the evening to the rural domestic consumers in view of the examination season and also to ensure supply of drinking water. All possible efforts be made to design equitable power regulatory measures and to implement it after giving it due publicity.
P.K. Das, Special Secretary Power and Managing Director, Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam said besides initiating setting up of new power generation projects many initiatives have been taken for providing quality power to consumers for more duration and make available better service to them. These included construction of new sub-stations, bifurcation / trifurcation of overloaded and lengthy feeders, release of free domestic connections to people living below poverty line, improved energy audit, reduction in Aggregated Transmission & Commercial losses, on the spot release of domestic category applicants by holding open darbars and redressal of consumer complaints through Bijli Sabhas etc.
