Haryana chief minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda forwarded 87 proposals to the Centre for setting up of Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in the state.
The SEZ would invite an investments of 2 lakh crore. This would create an employment of over 20 lakh persons. Of the total 87 proposals 57 have been sanctioned in principle.approval.
Hooda said the state government had implemented a new industrial policy under which special concession was given in the rural areas. An investment of Rs 28,000 crore had been attracted in the state during the last 32 months and another investment of Rs 60,000 crore is envisaged in a few months.
Adding he said, Rs 40,000 crore was invested in the state during the last 40 years upto March 2005. Hooda made it clear that these investments did not include that of SEZs.The state had not acquired any land for SEZs in the state.
While talking about the achievements of the state government, he said Rs 78,500 per capita investment was under implementation. The state had emerged first in this area in the country and also first in per capita income.
He said the government plans to generate 5,000 mw for additional power generation in the state. The first unit of 300 mw Deenbandhu Chootu Ram Thermal Power Plant had been synchronized on November 1. Also, the second unit of the this plant would be commissioned by February 2008. A 1,200 mw Rajiv Gandhi Thermal Power Plant at village Khedar would be completedby 2010. The first unit of this plant would be commissioned by December 2009, he added.
He said that the foundation stone of 1,500 mw Indira Gandhi Super Thermal Power Plant had been laid by the UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and another 1,200 mw power plant would be set up in Jhajjar with the collaboration of private entrepreneurs.
Haryana would incur a sum of Rs 24,000 crore during the 11th Five Year Plan for strengthening the distribution and transmission in the state. A new power plant would be added each year to the power kitty of the state, he added.
