J&K governor NN Vohra has rejected Omar Abdullah?s resignation after probing the allegations against him that were made by the People?s Democratic Party (PDP) leader Muzaffar Hussain Beigh in the Srinagar sex scandal case.
Abdullah has not been attending his office and had skipped the Assembly session for a day after the allegations were leveled against him on Tuesday in the Legislative Assembly.
?Based on the information supplied to him by the Union home ministry, there is no basis for Shri Abdullah seeking to resign,? a spokesman of the J&K government said while quoting the governor. ?Accordingly the governor advised the chief minister to most vigorously devote himself to discharging responsibilities of chief minister, Jammu and Kashmir.?
Abdullah is likely to rejoin office on Friday. He has been staying at his Gupkar home since Tuesday where he has been interacting with his party workers from across the Valley.
On July 28, governor Vohra had asked Abdullah to continue to discharge his responsibilities as chief minister till a final decision on his resignation. The CM had requested the governor to probe, on a time-bound basis, into the allegations made against him by Beigh during the assembly proceedings. In his letter to the governor Omar had also requested him to immediately accept his resignation in case he is satisfied that there is any basis in the allegations.
