Gold prices fell by Rs 100 at Rs 14,690 per 10 gram in the bullion market here as demand for the metal waned amid weakening global trend.

However, silver recovered Rs 50 to Rs 22,650 per kg on scattered demand from industrial units.

Marketmen said subdued demand due to off-marriage and festival seasons mainly pulled down gold prices.

They said trading sentiment turned bearish following reports of a weak trend in the overseas markets on rebounding dollar against leading currencies.

Standard gold and ornaments fell by Rs 100 each to Rs 14,690 and Rs 14,540 per 10 gram, respectively. Sovereign remained flat at Rs 12,400 per piece of eight gram.

Silver ready found scattered buying from industrial users and recovered Rs 50 to Rs 22,650 per kg, but weekly-based delivery lost Rs 20 to Rs 22,670 per kg.

Silver coins continued to be asked around previous levels at Rs 29,200 for buying and Rs 29,300 for selling of 100 pieces.
