Bluetooth headsets have become common, mostly due to the necessity. People who drive for long amounts of time and cannot stay without answering calls need it?otherwise they run the risk of either crashing or being fined by the cops. The Bluetooth headsets have become popular with quite a few people because of reasons like good audio quality and the freedom from a tangle of wires.

The Plantronics Explorer 240 Bluetooth headset is another one which offers the same convenience. The Explorer 240 has a glossy black finish with a silver border of all sides. The entire top panel acts as a button?to pick up and disconnect calls. The switch on/off and pair button is on the side panel. Connectivity is indicated by a blue LED on the centre of the top panel. The side panel also has the microUSB port for charging.

Out of the box, I was impressed by the build quality of the Explorer 240. The flexible behind the ear clip makes setting the headset a comfortable point a breeze. The glossy finish however, will eventually gather a lot of scratches.

Pairing it with a Bluetooth enabled phone is simple. Press the centre button to put it in pair mode, search for devices using the Bluetooth in the phone, and pair. The headset is comfortable to use, and fits nicely just on the ear, without adding any unnecessary weight on to it.

The call quality offered by the Explorer 240 is excellent. Absolutely no extra noises in a call, at either end. Even in a noisy environment, the voice was not drowned out, which makes it a good buy for those who converse a lot while driving !

The battery lasts about a full day of calling, but that will also depend on the audio volume you have set. Overall, the Plantronics Explorer 240 is a good value Bluetooth headset which is a solid option for a potential buyer. Just keep your fingernails clipped, lest you may scratch it while trying to pick up an incoming call!
