The Tron movie came out in 1982 and its successor Tron Legacy came in 2010. Tron Evolution is a game by Disney that provides players the opportunity to explore the computer realm from these movies known as The GRID, to figure out the events that connect the two movies. We got an Xbox 360 copy of the game and although the game has superb graphics, we found the gameplay and the overall world getting repetitive too often.

In Tron Evolution, you get to play as Anon, a system monitor developed by Kevin Flynn who is set to stop Clu from gaining control of the GRID. As a new form of life forms called the Isos have come in, a lot of programs as well as Clu who are not in favour of the m are set out to get rid of them. Moreover, a virus is sweeping across the GRID which is corrupting programs as well as Isos to turn into enemies of the GRID. Abraxas is the main villain of the game that is spreading the virus and as a system monitor it is up to Anon to stop this.

Tron Evolution is very impressive in terms of graphics. The world of GRID is rendered beautifully with neon lighting and digital backgrounds that actually give you the feeling of being inside a digital computer world. All characters have the same leather finish on their suits with neon lighting across in different colours that denote which side they are on. Sadly, the characters all seem too unrealistic as you view them from close proximity. The lighting across the levels is superb and the use of different colours in neon lights makes the game stand out.

The gameplay is fun but has its share of issues. We loved the free roam environment and the game controls are quick to learn. Anon is acrobatically blessed and making him run on walls or do a couple of acrobatic moves and tricks during movement and combat is easy as well as great fun.

Combat is done using the light disc?the game?s only projectile weapon. As the game progresses, the light disc gets upgraded to deal more damage to the enemy units.

Combat using the light disc is one of the highlights of the game as it can be used in different styles while moving and this is done with some very cool acrobatic moves while fighting. The trouble here again is the repetitiveness that comes in. The lack of variety in weapons in today?s time makes the game loose a point.

The worst point of the game is the vehicle implementation in the game. Light cycles are tough to handle and are merely used in the game to run from one point to other. Light tanks are slow and although they deal superb damage, handling them is a tough job. Tron Evolution is a good one time play, but where it scores is the multi-player. If you are into multiplayer games a lot, then do check this one out.
