Aiming to export 7,000 cars in the current fiscal from just 800 in the previous one, Fiat India Automobiles (FIAL) today said it is scouting for export opportunities in the SAARC region.
?We have started sending Linea in South Africa and are looking for opportunities to export in SAARC countries like Nepal, Bhutan and Sri Lanka,? FIAL Chief Executive Officer Rajeev Kapoor said.
The auto major targets to export 7,000 cars this fiscal, he said.
The company had exported over 800 Palios last fiscal to South Africa.
?The first batch of Linea (90 units) has also been sent to South Africa in the current fiscal,? he said.
FIAL, an equal joint venture between Italy?s Fiat Group Automobiles and Tata Motors, has an installed capacity of making two lakh cars a year at its Ranjangaon facility in Pune.
Fiat manufactures Palio Stile, Linea and Grande Punto at the facility. Apart from Fiat cars, the facility also produces Tata passenger and next generation cars.
