Take this camera out for your outdoor adventures and bring back memories in stunning photos or in full high definition

Panasonic has announced a new Lumix DMC-TS3 (FT3), specially geared for active outdoor use, incorporating more powerful features in even more rugged design. The new 12.1-megapixel DMC-TS3 (FT3) further strengthens its toughness to be waterproof to 12m with shockproof to 2m, freeze proof to-10 degrees C and dust proof reliability. The built-in GPS function, compass, altimeter and barometer are all newly incorporated for users to enjoy active outdoor even more.

The Leica DC VARIO-ELMAR lens in folded optics boasts not only high quality image but also rugged design. Starting at the 28 mm wide angle, and zooming up to 4.6x in telephoto, this camera gives you the flexibility for virtually all shooting scenes?especially underwater, where movement is often restricted and the angle of view becomes important for composing your shots.

It is evident that the new Panasonic device is one of the toughest compact cameras going and will certainly please most adventurers, or those just looking for something the kids won?t break! GPS, compass and a novelty 3D shooting mode also up the ante. However, as always with these tough cameras, you do pay a big premium while image quality is only average.

The camera?s start up time is three seconds which is slower than other cameras contending as winners. The time for first shot clocks at two seconds which is an average timing for the regular compact cameras. The recycle time is 3.7 frames per seconds, which is good as compared to many other cameras. The image quality in burst mode is not bad but not good either.

When we compared the quality of photos from this camera with other cameras, such as the Nikon AW100, we found the image quality is decent but not as good in terms of richness, colour reproduction etc. As in, Nikon AW100 offers 15 MP as compared to this one that offers 12 MP. The Nikon AW100 is lighter in weight than this camera. The videos shot in extreme conditions, such as being mounted on a bicycle on dusty roads or being sumerged under water at 15-20 feet, turns out to be of good quality. This camera offers video shooting in high definition (AVCHD format).

The DMC-TS3/FT3 rugged compact camera does extreme conditions photography and video shooting. It is dust proof, waterproof up to depths of 12m, shockproof against a drop of upto 2 meters (6.6 ft), and freeze proof down to -10 degrees C (14F).

The camera offers full 1080i60 HD video recording capability along with Panasonic?s latest Active mode for less shaky videos and a 3D photo mode.
