Real estate developer Emaar MGF would develop a five star hotel in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, at an investment of Rs 200 crore in partnership with the state government.
The 200-room hotel, to come up in the next two years under public-private partnership model, would have a capacity to house 1,200 guests, the realtor said in a statement. Emaar MGF has tied up with Intercontinental Hotels Group of Singapore for management of the hotel, which would carry the brand ‘Holiday Inn’.
The hotel, which would also have a convention centre, is part of an integrated facility comprising retail and entertainment space spread across 10 acres of land at Tapkeshwar.
The hotel would be the second five star facility in the state after Jaypee Hotel, Mussoorie.
The agreement with the state government was signed on Wednesday by Emaar MGF Chief Operating Officer for Hospitality Sanjiv Rai.
Later, terming the deal as a big leap for tourism development in the state, Uttarakhand Tourism Minister Prakash Pant said the government has given land to Emaar MGF on a 30-year lease, during which the company would make an annual payment of Rs 7 crore to state authorities.
After the end of lease, the property would be handed over to Uttarakhand Tourism Development Council, he added.
