Department of management Studies, (IIT Delhi) in association with EduExcellence successfully concluded the 4th workshop on Management Imperatives for Educational Institutions in the city today.
The 4 day long workshop was organized from 9-12 June, 2010, at the DMS, Delhi campus and saw participation from 70 educationists cum budding managers from different schools in India and USA.
The workshop had a judicious mix of lectures, role plays and panel discussions on logistic and maintenance, employee training and empowerment, financial management, total quality management, kaizen and 5-S Approach, which aimed to imbibe the values and the global contexts of quality education.
Speaking at the workshop, Dr. Harish Chaudhary (Asst Prof. Marketing Management, DMS Delhi), who designed the workshop, said ?Workshops like these are designed with an aim to have discussions on issues concerning the education ecosystem encompassing value education, teacher empowerment, legal nuances and innovative teaching methodologies.?
He further added, ?We at DMS aim at developing management models, practices and individuals who constantly seek to strengthen the ongoing processes of management and extend the frontiers of management knowledge and in doing so, we endeavor to consolidate the creative bridges between the traditions of management thought in India and the global management thinking.?
The sessions were moderated by eminent speakers like Lalit Jonwal – IIT Ways, P K Jain – Professor, Department of Management Studies, IIT Delhi, Seema Khanna – NIC, Govt. of India, Amit Sachdeva – Senior Lecturer, Head of Department, SRCC and other acclaimed educationists present at the workshop highlighted the importance of knowledge of legal issues, Management Information systems, self analysis and breakthrough concepts in Management, to the participants.
The experts also highlighted how they can blend their expertise in the respective areas and their field experience on real time school issues with these management practices and successful case studies to be able to design and develop successful management models for their institutions.
Dr. Archana Shukla, Dean IIM Lucknow Noida Campus, during her session explained that qualities present in Human are in five different clusters, i.e. Tiger, Turtle, Chameleon, Eagle and Salmon, which implemented at different situations, can prove to be very fruitful for the development of an individual and an organizations.
Participants included educationists, management heads from reputed educational institutions such as D P S, DAV Model School, Chandigarh, Bal Bharti Public School, Cambridge School etc.
