Crude palm oil prices moved up by Rs 2.60 to Rs 496 per 10 kg in futures trade on Monday, in tandem with a firming global trend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude palm oil for August delivery rose by Rs 2.60, or 0.53 per cent, to Rs 496 per 10 kg, with a business turnover of 29 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in June edged up by Rs 2.50, or 0.51 per cent, to Rs 495.50 per 10 kg, with an open interest for 17 lots.

Analysts said besides a firming trend in overseas markets, fresh buying by traders due to a pick-up in demand in the spot market also led to the rise in crude palm oil futures prices.

Meanwhile, palm oil for September delivery gained 0.7 per cent to USD 1,060 a tonne at the Malaysia Derivatives Exchange.
