The coal ministry said on Friday that coal has been supplied to power plants in north India during the current month at the average rate of 40 rakes a day of coal and the target is to increase it to 53 rakes. During the last three days, Badarpur power station has been dispatched 18 rakes of coal, Dadri 21, Rihand 9 rakes, Singrauli 7 and Unchahaar 15 rakes against their daily requirement of 3.25, 5.2, 2.5, 0.8 and 4 rakes, respectively. Supply to these power stations is being further augmented. The coal stock position in other power houses of northern states is also being watched to ensure smooth power supply. The coal companies have been advised to ensure priority movement of coal to power stations.
