Citibank will start three new branches in India by February 2008, taking its total number of branches in the country to 42.
The new branches include one at Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh and two?Nanded and Akola?in Maharashtra. The international banking major also has plans for ?multi-million dollar long-term investments? for its country operations over the next 12-18 months, including technology infrastructure upgradation.
Citi?s chief executive officer (global consumer group, Asia Pacific) Stephen Bird said on the sidelines of Citi-FT financial education summit 2007 here that from the 39 branches which Citi has at present in India, the company will have 42 branches by February. He added that the bank would recruit around 30 employees for the new branches.
