Cardamom prices rose by Rs 10.70 to Rs 858 per kg in futures trading on Tuesday as speculators enlarged their positions, supported by a firming spot market trend on rising demand.

Restricted arrivals from the producing region also influenced the cardamom prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in July moved up by Rs 10.70, or 1.26 per cent, to Rs 858 per kg, with a business turnover of 225 lots.

The spice for delivery in August also rose by Rs 7.90, or 0.90 per cent, to Rs 887 per kg, with trade volume of 67 lots.

Market analysts said increased buying by speculators, driven by pick-up in spot market demand mainly led to the rise in cardamom futures prices.
